What happens when my SSL cert expire?

  • I currently use a StartSSL free certificate. I would like to get rid of it.

    1. What happens if I let it expire and remove it from my WordPress install server?

    2. What happens if I remove StartSSL cert and get a cert from a different company?

    Do my users see a warning?

    When it expires, users going to your site will see a warning about an expired cert. If you replace the StartSSL cert with a new one, nothing bad should happen.

    The users are going to see as long as the expired cert in online. As soon as I take it off server. The site will plain http connection.
