I am new to WordPress and with that comes the need to master some new vocabulary. I encountered the term “single post page” but I am not sure what that means.

    • What does “single post page” mean?
    • What do I need to do to make a page of the “single post” type?
    • Is it possible to convert a “single post page” to a “normal page”?
    • What other types of pages exist in the WordPress universe/jargon?

  • What does “single post page” mean?

The web page that only displays one, single, Post.

What do I need to do to make a page of the “single post” type?

This is usually generated by demand via WordPress and your theme.

Is it possible to convert a “single post page” to a “normal page”?

No. Posts & Pages (note the uppercase ‘P’) are quite different in WordPress. See Pages.

What other types of pages exist in the WordPress universe/jargon?

Archive (which can mean a display of Posts from a specific time period or list of Posts.
Category: Display Posts that belong to a specific category
Tag: Display Posts that have been assigned a specific tag

    They’re the main ones.

The single post page is defined in single.php and it is used as the template for your posts. This page is displayed when you are viewing your post in full, not the page that runs excerpt in the loop that lists all your posts.
