What is article.php Used For?

  • I mean, I can use single.php, comments.php, and index.php and no problem and not run into anything with article.php – When should I use / edit article.php?

    I mean, if I don’t use Archives.php – my archive still works on my blog – no problem, so what’s the point of having it at all?

    I’ve read the codex but that hasn’t helped explain what archives.php actually DOES in comparison to index.php. It seems like index.php is just the MAIN Archive page.

    Correct. It is used to display your main posts page.

    Then when would I ever need to use Archive.php? Can I instead use Archive.php in the place of index.php?
