What is .htaccess.preinstall ?

In ftp there normally is a .htaccess to be found, now there is also a .htaccess.preinstall to be found with the same info. I can’t be any more descriptive since I don’t know what it is or does.

Can I delete it?

make a backup copy of it before deleting it. Then check to make sure everything works.

I found this file also .htaccess.preinstall on a broken WordPress site…
But there is no answer really to what it does. It seems like something a plug-in like quick-setup may use, or maybe from the hosting service.

We are also curious what this is… anyone?

.htaccess.preinstall is not a WP core file.
