What is Page 404

  • I Am starting with Stained Glass template and I do not get it yet what is page 404 or portfolio page? I Am trying to use the widgets but when I ad let say social medias or search widget to page 404 or portfolio top sidebar it doesn’t do anything.

    journeyangels, 404 page is a page you see when you enter wrong link (www.yourdomain.xxx/sdffghjk). Portfolio is a custom post type from Jetpack, you can see it at https://www.yourdomain.xxx/portfolio if you use Jetpack plugin.

    not sure why but when i try to create a new page it keeps displaying as a if it’s ”404 page”.
    my page is set as ‘no parent’and ‘default template’ same as on all the other pages i’ve created. I’ve tried playing with the different drop downs it doesn’t change. I was having no issues. Is there a max number of pages with the theme? Sorry may sound like a stupid question but i’m a newbie.
    I’m trying to create a new gallery page as i’m not happy with the appearance of the standard one in the theme
