• Hi,

From what I understand, from what I have read on the web, you have built a kick butt plugin, but through my research on the web, I have yet to find documentation as to why to use this over HyperDB.

    Is SharDB easier to use?

Will I get better performance out of one or the other in the long term?

If you could let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Matt

HyperDB is typically used for master/slave MySQL set up with a single database. SharDB is for distributing your tables across multiple databases.

    Ron,

    Thanks for answering.

Is one better than the other for performance or do they do the same thing just in a different way?

Do you want to have one DB (with multiple replicas) or your data spread across multiple DBs? That’s the deciding factor.

Unless you have more than 250 sites you probably won’t see much advantage in using SharDB over the built in DB class.
