What is the category page?

I can see a download button on pages with an individual product, but nowhere else. Are all WooCommerce pages showing multiple products supposed to have a download button too or just the top page? In the documentation, the “category page” is mentioned but this isn’t a concept in WooCommerce; you have the base page of the shop (where we have put a number of WooCarousel shortcodes) and a large number of generated category pages with URIs starting with /product-category/…
