WordPress Virtuoso

    What specifically are you referring to?

    I can’t answer everything about it, but it looks familiar & benign. None of that looks like a threat, to me. Most of that looks like it has a purpose and is normally stuff in your header. Different purposes line by line.

    The line about “robots” is simply telling Search Engines that it is o.k. to index your page & follow links on your page as they track around the web.

    The “title” part, towards the end, is putting the name of your blog in the top-bar of your browser, way up at the top of the screen.

    The “meta-name generator” part, you can remove, even though it says “please leave this”. I think it’s pointless and I would remove it, but it’s nothing to worry about. If you leave it, people & search engines can see in your hidden web code, that you use WordPress & what version of it you use. If you like to advertise WP, leave it. If you want to hide this fact, delete.

    Hope this helps

    Co?ncidence or not, but this morning my eye fell on this line too:

    <head profile=”https://gmpg.org/xfn/11″>

    I don’t know why I never noticed it before. I didn’t change themes or anything. It’s an article by mr. Mullenberg (among others), so I guess it’s okay ??

    Good point Gangleri, you can go to that URL and it’s a page explaining the XML Friends Network. That’s the XFN.

    It ties in to those advanced options in Write > New Link where you can specify if you’re linking to a friend, relative, another site of yours, co-worker, etc.

    ok thanks. it came with the header in revolution theme. i am fine with advertising WP and theme artists but i want to do everything possible to keep the blog secure and speedy. i just don’t want any burdensome spyware or stuff like that.
