What is the “s” parameter in the url?

  • I’ve inherited a WordPress site which is using the plain permalink settings. I see there are index-style pages that are reached via an “s” parameter as in:

    https://www.websitename.org/?s=2000

    I can’t find these pages, so I suspect this must be a search option of sorts?
