• My monitor blew up yesterday so went and got a 19″ flat panel. Just wondering what monitor resolution is best for configuring WP?

I’m trying 1280 x 1024 but the text is pretty small and afraid if I config WP for this, at lower res, the text would be huge.

    Thanks!

  • I only design mine for a minimum of 1024×768 anymore.

However, I do try to keep the width of the main content at 800 or less.

I’m with Rori. I honestly don’t care how big the overall size is, but I want my main content to look good on an 800 x 600 resolution. You may want to take a look at the Web Developer Extension for Firefox or Mozilla. It has a function which allows you to view your site at different resolutions (by accurately resizing the browser window).

My moniter is using 1280 x 1024 resolution, a 16.1-inch LCD screen Sony laptop.

I try to make content online that has a fixed width –800px wide at most, or it can be bigger but will dynamically get narrower in smaller windows, or pull larger in bigger windows.

So fixed width and dynamically resizable are the two things to consider.

Height of pages is another thing, which I just don’t deal with. Let them scroll down. That’s natural. Scrolling left and write isn’t even for the birds. It’s so annoying. ??

I just create things how I like them, and let viewers play with their browsers to view my pages. That’s what the browser settings are for … aren’t they? I think so ??

So I just have the simple guideline of fixed-width content being 800px or less, and anything else dynamically resizable should look good at less than 800px and not ugly at 1028 either.

IE users might complain about text size more than other browser brand users. Firefox is much nicer in this regard.

Thanks for the posts, it answers the question. Just to make sure I’ll play with a few different resolutions just to study the results.
