• I know you guys probably hate these posts, but i went through a couple of plugins and got fed up with it.

I have a very simple blog. It’s the default theme.

I need a photo gallery plugin that lets me have a “random” photo on the homepage, but when clicked, takes me to the photo gallery page.

Must be simple to install. I’m fed up with messing with templates, zips, etc. Anything like this?

Sample of what I am talking about: https://www.voyagewest.com/temp/screen.jpg

or doing a general google search for best wordpress plugins or best wordpress image gallery

You could wait for Owen Winkler’s next incarnation of his popular Exhibit plugin. Read his blog about it here.

    Hi folks,
i am a bit like skunkertx i tried a few, some are “nice” some are far of that.
All i would like to have is a gallery that has:
    1) url rewriting
    2) read iptc
3)put iptc tag in the wordpress tag area, do you know if that exist?
    Bets regards
    herve

Gallery 2.x does all you need an a lot more besides.

It is possible to seamlessly integrate Gallery v2.x with WordPress. Have a look at this blog to see an example.

I suggest you visit this the Gallery site itself and go here: Gallery2:Integration:Available Integrations. to learn more.

Gallery is probably more then what skunkertx is looking for, but I do agree it is a nice program. Although I’m about to start looking for a similar program/plugin, I haven’t started yet so have nothing better to suggest.

myGallery is perfect if you just want a simple gallery page. Very easy to get up and running.

I also am having problems finding the right image gallery specially for FREE WEB HOSTING sites where you are limited to fopen() functions which really sucks i think.

If anybody here has any idea, it would be great!

I’ve been using the popular NextGen gallery, and though it has some very nice features, it’s also still fairly buggy and has some confusing aspects of how the interface is set up.

So just wanted to say if you wanted a very simple solution, NextGen would *not* be it.

Glad I read that last one. Have been very impressed with WP overall and have successfully installed a few widgets. Very hard to know what some of the plugins do so we come and ask for ideas. Here’s what I would like to do:

Setup a user, as author I believe, so my sister in law can upload a folder with pictures of my baby nieces.
I would like to have it so she doesn’t have to edit, crop, resize. Sort what she wants to share into a folder for an event and just upload to a post or page. Thumbnails link to the larger picture.

    Maybe all do this?
She should be an author? or admin?

I don’t need random pics in the sidebar or main page. Just a category or page called The Smiths or something that is password protected. She can post and then send an email with a link and the password to that page.

    Any help would be appreciated.
