what plugins can I deactivate or delete

  • I am told that in order to speed up my site I need to delete or deactivate more plugins. Four questions: 1. Are there plugins that I can delete after having entered the settings or data that is needed? 2. Instead are there plugins that I can deactivate after having done the same thing. 3. Are any of the following unnecessary? I have nine woocommerce plugins that I know I need. In addition I have the following:
    a3 Lazy Load, Accelerated Mobile Pages, Better Search Replace, Broken Link Checker, Child Theme Configuerator, Elementor, Elementor Pro, Far Future Expiration, Glue for Yoast and AMP, Google Analytics, GP Premium, Gravity Forms, Jet Pack, Media Cleaner Pro, Pinterest Pin it Button, Schema & Structured Data for WP, Smush, WP Remove Query Strings, WP Super Cache, Yoast Premium. Is there anywhere I can find a good blog on how to recognize the way I should do this? Thanks in advance.

  • Most of those can help you speed up your website or help it appear to run faster.

    Child Theme configurator seems to run once, create a child theme, and then step out of the way. I’d use it, disable and even delete it if I didn’t think I’d need it anytime soon. I do like that plugin.

    The Broken Link Checker can be a resource hog as it runs out of the box set for something like 72 hours for each traverse. I usually throttle it back to 480 hours after it has done its job a couple times. You can also disable it and re-enable it occasionally but the sites I have it on need it to run continuously as the content can be right dynamic.

    I always figure if you need more horsepower then ‘buy it’. Hardware in the form of server upgrades are cheap enough. Don’t overburden your web server with extraneous tasks like email, webmail, cron, DNS, etc. Let it be a web server first.

    You might look at CloudFlare for an approximately 20% performance boost after you solve any speed issues. I love CloudFlare (especially their DNS service) but it can amplify 500 errors.
