• Gone is the ability to create custom backup jobs. Features like custom scheduling and compress as .zip file are now missing from the free version. Did the company secretly get bought by some billionaire?

    Avoid.

UPDATE: It looks like they are listening to the backlash and planning on reinstating the features mentioned above, i’ll amend this review until i see it happen.

    Hi @pao2 ,

We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the recent changes. We understand how crucial a reliable backup solution is for you and the importance of features like custom scheduling and file format selection. Restricting functionality was never our intention. Our aim was to simplify the backup process, but we recognize the need for greater flexibility.

As you mentioned in your update, we are committed to addressing these limitations and ensuring that all users, whether on the Free or Pro version, have the features they need.

We’re actively working to restore the ability to create as many backup jobs as you require, with options to select storage locations, frequencies, and file formats. Version 5.0.5 is set to be released in the coming days, reintroducing the ability to select file formats, including .zip files.

In the meantime, if you prefer, you can revert to version 4.1.7 here.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these improvements.

    The BackWPup Team
