• Hi,

    https://furniturefarm.co.uk

I installed at SSL certificate on the above site yesterday and used the Really Simple SSL pluging to switch it HTTPS.

The Really Simple SSL pluging is detecting the SSL cert and that https redirect is set in .htaccess yet the address bar is showing HTTP errors despite Auto Replace Mixed Content being ticked.

I’ve installed SSL Insecure Content Fixer and tried all settings, (simple, content, widgets & capture, and the insecure content is still being displayed according to the address bar padlock.

Any suggestions here how I can sort out the insecure content that the plugin isn’t sorting?

    Highest regards,

    Holmey

I’ve tried the site home page on https://www.whynopadlock.com/check.php and that is showing everything is OK, yet the padlock is still not green… ??

It seems that Capture setting was fixing it, but due to cookies being left on my browser, the padlock was not showing as green when I tested.

Moral of story, if ever I have problems with HTTPS, delete all cookies before I test again…

It’s W3 Total Cache that is breaking the security that SSL Insecure Content Fixer fixed in it’s hardest Capture mode, but as soon as you enable W3 Total Cache page caching the padlock goes as it starts presenting non HTPPS files…

WP Super Cache breaks it the same…

Will have to look for a caching plugin that will work with SSL and your plugin, with it not helping that my browser cache was holding it as broken too.

    G’day Holmey,

Are you behind a reverse proxy? i.e. what does it say when you run the SSL Tests under Tools?

    cheers,
    Ross

It’s definitely a problem with W3 Total Cache. I installed/activated the plugin and from Why No Padlock I got this:

    Total number of items: 236
    Number of insecure items: 1

When I retested there were only a few secure items.

I deactivated W3 Total Cache and I’m back to having only 1 secure item. It’s the logo. I can’t figure out how to fix that. I’m going to contact the theme developer.

    Thanks for a great plugin!

@bobmack maybe try logging in to the admin on https and editing your theme settings, e.g. pick the logo image again. Quite often, the theme will record the logo with an absolute path with http when you edit via http, so editing it from https fixes the problem.

    cheers,
    Ross
