Regarding the issue not quite sure what could have happened there.
Could you please try to run a conflict test? That will show us whether there is an issue with the version of the plugin you have, or something else is interfering.
If you need your site back urgently, then I’d recommend reinstalling the earlier version. After that create a copy of your site and set it up as a staging site, where you can test updates and investigate issues without having your production site down.
