• After fumbling with Easy Modal and finding its shortcomings I download poup marker 1.16. That is all I needed to see. Even for a layman I produced what I needed in minutes. It has one feature that is slick as it generates the CSS code and places it beside the individual popup names so you don’t have to go back and look for it. Can’t wait to download V3

This was the 5th popup or modal solution I have tried and everything else was a distant second and I haven’t even tried the latest version.

Hey timeonthewater, sorry to hear you had issues getting started. I would however like to invite you to try v3 of this plugin which was released as Popup Maker here on www.ads-software.com. It adds a lot of new features including auto open and custom selectors for click open.

I understand what your saying and will look into adding those types of things to future versions of the plugin. There is a dropdown in the editor now though that has a list of all popups in it. You can highlight text in the editor and select a modal from that list which will cause the highlighted text/images etc to open the modal when clicked.

Unfortunately we can really only make it so easy, we have attempted to remove code from as much as possible but often the targeting that needs to be done even with custom selectors ( user defined css selectors ), some assistance is often required to determine what selector they need to use. Click open is unfortunately a quite complicated task when you consider the potential places it may be used. IE content, widgets, menus, templates, filters.

Our goal was simply to make it as simple as possible while still remaining completely customization.

Hope this helps & I hope you will consider re rating the plugin once you have tried the latest version. Popup maker has tools to import your modals and tons of new features, too many to describe here. Popup Maker contains a lot of the missing pieces and there is a free/simple migration path available.

Thank you for your offer to try version 3. Maybe it will provide me with what I need, which is a simple popup that takes the place of modifying themes through WP sites. I’m currently using POPUP Pro and although it is working it is designed for marketing purposes only and is extremely difficult to setup a simple lightbox. Your product is more straight forward and faster to implement.

So if I can get V3 working I would switch.

Ok I downloaded popup marker but could only get version 1.16. Very impressive layout but could not find a condition to open on click or a short code for the maker. I’m sure all these have been improved in 3.0. How do I get and test v3?

If it works I would buy it in a nanosecond.

    Hey Timeonthewater,

v3 is what it would have been if left Easy Modal. As we rebranded it became v1.

If you would like to email me directly with what you are trying to accomplish I would be glad to give you further help. I have recently become the sole dev/support for both plugins, so doc writing has slowed. Though I have made it a point to convert any instruction into a guide for future users.

In the editor, on the second row should be a drop down at the end. In it should be a list of your popups. Highlighting text/image and selecting one of those will cause the selected text to trigger a popup. This was also there in Easy Modal as well.

The modal and popup shortcodes are for creating actual popups inline and not making something clickable at the moment. I will make one for the next update of Popup Maker along the lines of popup_trigger that you can use around text/images.

However if you want to target say something in your sidebar/header/footer that is not easily editable in the admin, you can use the Custom Selector option under Click Open Settings on the popup editor. There you could use something like #header #logo which would make your header logo trigger that popup.

As a side note, a popup can only be opened by click if its loaded. Meaning if its in the header/footer/sidebar on every page, you need to set the popup to load on the entire site or it won’t work.

Where can I find an email address?

I have been using 1.16 and not only does it work it does something no other popup does and that is generate the CSS class and you can copy and paste it in the popup. Very slick and time saving. It even gives the option of using the named CSS from the title or a number generated one.

The theme editor is simple and effective and at no time do you wonder what element of the theme you are changing as the preview is open as you work on it. If V3 is even better I’m in. Great popup plug in!

Sorry meant to post it danieliser at wizardinternetsolutions.com.

Thanks for the revised review. Popup Maker was the culmination of all the feedback and usage we have gotten out of Easy Modal. It is everything easy modal was and everything it was not.

PS v3 is a figurative version. If it were released as Easy Modal. v1.1.6 is the latest version.

Also please take a moment to rate and review popup maker since that is really where your last review belongs..

    [vsc-button color=”red” url=”#” style=”thin”]GET STARTED[/vsc-button]
