What’s new in version 1.1.9
Plugin version 1.1.9 pushed to www.ads-software.com servers today. The new version includes Google Analytics social interactions tracking, Subscribe button renamed to Follow button, gallery images in default Open Graph protocol output, WordPress 3.5 color picker support for recommendations box and activity feed widgets, and the latest version of the Facebook PHP SDK with improved nginx support.
Google Analytics Social Interactions support
The Facebook plugin now includes JavaScript and PHP to track new likes, send, and comments as well as deleted likes or comments inside Google Analytics through Google Analytics Social Interactions. New social actions are sent to each Google Analytics tracker on the page. We’ve integrated support for these extra Google Analytics social interactions for sites running Google Analyticator and Google Analytics for WordPress through the actions or filters used by each plugin.
Subscribe Button is now Follow Button
The Subscribe button was renamed Follow button on December 12. The Facebook JavaScript SDK automatically switched over buttons displayed to visitors; this release changes references in WordPress administrative interfaces and options tables to match front-end display while directly referencing the new button class and properties.
Gallery images as Open Graph protocol images
WordPress 3.5 includes an entirely new media flow including gallery creation. The Facebook plugin now includes images defined in gallery shortcodes as post image choices promoted through Open Graph protocol. A post link copy-and-pasted into a Facebook status update will display multiple gallery images for selection as the featured image. The first defined Open Graph image will be displayed in link summaries sent to Facebook without customization (Social Publisher, Likes, etc.).
WordPress 3.5 color picker
Sites powered by WordPress 3.5 or newer can take advantage of the new color picker to define a color in hexadecimal notation through a visual interface.
Facebook PHP SDK 3.2.2
The latest version of the Facebook plugin for WordPress includes the latest version of the Facebook PHP SDK, 3.2.2. The SDK now checks for communications over port 443 as an indication the current URL is being served over HTTPS in nginx. Signed requests and related cookies are checked for empty values, eliminating “unknown algorithm” errors in some logs.
