What's the best default WordPress theme?

  • Hi
    I run a web design business and am preparing to offer a very basic WordPress site setup for startup businesses. It’s going to be very quick and affordable.

    I am going to be offering other levels of service with more themes and more choice.

    If I only offer one theme for this, what do you think it should be?
    Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven, Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen, or something else?

    I’m considering Twenty Twelve.

    Thanks. Twenty Thirteen is very pretty, but I think Twenty Twelve creates a more appealing “business site” for the conservative customer. Or maybe I’ll offer both.

    Best is pretty subjective. I mean, I think Twenty Thirteen is modern, current, and presents well…

    Agreed – so the only other method we can use is “potential future support time”. Whilst there is no evidence that support for Twenty Ten or Eleven will cease in the foreseeable future, logic suggests that Twenty Twelve and Thirteen have the longest support life ahead of them.

    No – it’s still in beta. Twenty Twelve was released before WordPress 3.5, so I wouldn’t rule out the same thing happening with Twenty Thirteen. So it’s really a case of “watch this space”.

    I already offer a similar service to the one that you are thinking of setting up and all I stipulate is that the new site uses a free theme from www.ads-software.com. That still leaves the client with plenty of choice – which makes it that much more attractive. ??
