The latest update changed the behaviour of the comment form, and I don’t understand it. Here are my options:

Default Checkbox Value: Replies to this comment
Select the default option for the Checkbox. Be careful! Some users might like to be subscribed to all the post.

    Advanced subscription: Yes
Advanced default: Replies to this comment
The default subscription type that should be selected when Advanced subscriptions are enable.

These two options appear to be somehow duplicates of each other. What is the difference between these two options? Can I turn ‘advanced subscription’ off now that the default checkbox value allows me to select ‘Replies to this comment’ only?

    Hi Kit!

One allows you to show a checkbox, the other allows you to show a drop-down menu that includes all three options (None, All, or Replies only). The checkbox only allows you to toggle between two options (None, and All or Replies only). Does that make sense?

If you enable “Advanced subscription”, then “Checked by default” and “Default Checkbox Value” are irrelevant and really those shouldn’t even be there when Advanced Subscriptions are enabled.

I agree that it’s confusing and I’ll add a todo item to get this clarified.

    Hi Raam!

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, that does make sense. I’ll mark this as resolved.
