In the last month or so, I’ve been getting update notifications for the Gutenberg editing plugin every few days, which frankly seems a bit ridiculous. Can someone please acknowledge or comment on this blizzard of updates, perhaps when posting them? How many versions have been issued since October 2020? It must be in the dozens! Are the developers unable to make up their minds as to when it’s out of beta? Can they not batch upgrades and new features into *once-per-month* updates? Do they think we’re impressed or feel they’re doing us a favor by demonstrating such undying zeal for improvements? Try to show some maturity!

By the way, there is no Gutenberg plugin support forum on the Gutenberg Hub site.

The plugin is the development version, where the latest features are introduced. If you want the stable version, turn off the plugin, and use the block editor built into the core instead.

I don’t know what “Gutenberg Hub site” you are referring to, but the plugin is developed here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg

Thanks for responding. The “Gutenberg Hub site” is https://gutenberghub.com/ , top result of web search for “Gutenberg plugin support forum”.

I was initially referring to the abundance of plugin version updates, and WP notifications I get for each one. See https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/handbook/references/keeping-up-with-gutenberg-index/keeping-up-with-gutenberg-index-2020/ for a summary.

    A text search there for “(u)” [update] yields 95 hits from June-Dec, plus 8 from Jan-April (c/o https://gutenbergtimes.com/mullenweg-on-gutenberg-roll-out-plan/ ), plus 10 so far in the 2021 index. That’s 113 updates in a year!

What # is the stable version? How often is that updated to reflect cumulative new features?

Yeah, that is not an “official” site, or owned by www.ads-software.com. It’s just a site made by some third party.

“Gutenberg” is the code name of “The Block Editor”.

Gutenberg the plugin is updated frequently, yes. The block editor itself is built right into WordPress and has been since WordPress 5.0. So, this is also “Gutenberg”, just not the latest version. The version built into WordPress gets updated when WordPress itself gets updated. The plugin, which is not required to use the block editor, gets updated more often.
