When changing pages, products are no longer selected

Hi
I noticed that in a product listing with multiple pages if I choose 2 products for comparison on the first page the compare button changes for the 2 products, I go to the second page and then go back to the previous one it happens that the products chosen at the beginning are no longer selected and it does not show the remove button but displays the wording compare.
How is it possible to solve this?
