When constraining images automatically add link to full size image

when inserting an image with Constrain Proportions, is there a way to automatically wrap the image with a link to open the full size image ?

In this way it could be possible to produce html similar to Add Media, and if there is a wrapping link it can also be detected by lightbox javascripts).

It would be good to be able to hook standard WP Thumbnail/Medium/Large sizes, and then when inserted with this constraint, add a wrapper link.

[this is for scenarios like front end use in forums where Add Media is not available]
