  • Hi @itsterry0908 and thanks for getting in touch. The Web Stories plugin should not be contributing to your high CPU usage. This could be caused by a number of different things such as plugin conflicts, multiple services/programs running at the time of use among other factors.

I would be happy to look into this for you if you could provide the following information:

    1. Your Site Health information or You can share privately if you prefer via this form.
    2. Do you get the same happen if you are only running Web Stories on your device?
    3. When creating a Web Story do you notice any browser console errors?

    Hello,

I have submitted the form you required, and the issue persists, website goes down when creating web story.

    Here is console error:https://prnt.sc/3uosacZdAxXv

    Hope it helps.

@itsterry0908 thanks for providing the screenshot. The first error here means that the REST API doesn’t work, returning 500 errors. I would recommend reaching out to your hosting provider with regards to these.

If you could also gather your PHP error logs from your hosting control panel and share them with us via a Google Drive link then we can also investigate these for you.

The other COEP error message is from some other script detector.js that is not part of the Web Stories plugin. It basically means that some other script is being loaded in the editor that doesn’t work well when the Web Stories video optimization is enabled(Stories > Settings > Video Optimization). This shouldn’t cause the editor to crash.

Once we have the logs from you we can investigate further and please do let us know if your hosting provider also provides any answers.

    Hello,

The issue continues when creating story, now have deactivated, check the error log file in google drive: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IcHljdBxbNgExaxxFfgqfZP8wsEoRJYRf0zdIIsLQyg/edit?usp=sharing

    Please fix this ASAP!

@itsterry0908 thanks for providing. Looking at the logs provided it doesn’t look to be an issue with the Web Stories plugin and looks as though that there are blocks coming from the hosting side.

I would recommend discussing this with Cloudways who should be able to assist you further with these.

If there is anything that we can do from our side that Cloudways mention then we will help where we can but we are limited to the Web Stories plugin.

Please let me know how you get on with your host and if there is anything else we can do to help.

    Hello,

I have asked Cloudways support, they also cannot figure out what the matter is, my problem is same with this:https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/every-time-i-go-to-create-a-new-story-the-server-crashes/, maybe this can`t be fixed, thanks anyway!

@itsterry0908 Is it possible for you to create a fresh new site on the same Cloudways hosting plan and just install the Web Stories plugin. Could you then test to see if you get the same issue on this site as with the other site?

If you are still facing the same issue then I would say that this is either hosting related or it could be due to other applications running on your machine. It might also be worth testing on another device if you have one available to test on.

Let me know how you get on with these.

    Hello,

I tried on another site same with Cloudways host, only woocommerce plugin activated, and use the default theme, when creating web story, CPU usage will load up 100% immediately, is it possible server restrict it? Or htaccess rules that might conflict?

@itsterry0908 Is it possible for you to try the same site on a different machine to see if the CPU usage is the same?

is it possible server restrict it? Or htaccess rules that might conflict?

These are questions you will have to direct to Cloudways. They should be able to to tell you if there are any server blocks.

    Hello,

Just update, I tested again and found can create web story on another site with same server and plugin, though no products. But when on this site, still shows error:

Have contacted Cloudways support, they told me need to fix the issue on code level, but I don`t know how to fix this, please help!

@itsterry0908 thank you for your continued effort with this and the information you have provided.

This does sound like this is not something that we can “fix” on the Web Stories side, but if you would like to give us some more detail on what Cloudways is saying the issue is, we can try to point you in the right direction.

    Hello,

Problem solved!!! I had once changed the database username and password, so it caused the error, now have been successfully fixed by Cloudways side.

@itsterry0908 Glad to hear you found the problem and it has been fixed! I will mark this topic as resolved but let us know in future if you have any more issues or questions on the Web Stories plugin.
