I installed & activated the plugin, and I’m still waiting to see if it finds the broken links. But after a couple hours, it still shows:

The link checker was not started yet.
Number of crawled HTML pages on your site: 0
Number of checked internal and external resources: 0

Back Link Checker was able to find the broken links immediately. When does this plugin crawl the site?

    Hi colbymc,

Have you seen that you have to start the Link Checker manually? There is a button “Check your website” next to the headline.

Thank you. It looks like a subtitle rather than a button.

So does it have to be checked manually each time, or will it check automatically now?

Thank you for your feedback, I will highlight the button in one of the next version. I see that it is not ideal ??

In the free version it is necessary to start the check manually. In the professional version of the Link Checker it is possible to use the scheduler, which triggers a check once a day and will send you a summary email each day.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Best regards,
    Marco

OK, thanks for that information. Installing a plugin in the backend of a site that requires logging in, clicking a button, and manually checking for broken links takes more effort than necessary. Especially when I can enter the URL in a free link checker tool online and get the same information.

    Thank you for your feedback.

If you do the link check just one time, then yes, you are right. I also offer the Link Checker as an online tool on my website if that is less cumbersome for you.

The idea behind the WordPress plugin is that you could easily access the Link Checker when you are working in the backend anyway. So you don’t have to open an online tool on a website.

And of course there is the scheduler in the paid version, but I can not offer all features for free, because the operation of the servers and the development also costs money and time…

Therefore I try to describe the limitations of the free version as good as possible in the plugin description.

Sorry that the plugin does not match your needs.

    Best regards,
    Marco
