• Hey all,

I’ve installed wordpress locally in order to check it out … but whenever I click on ‘view site’ then the browser shows me a directory of the files instead of catching the index.php immediately… what can I do to fix this ?

  • what operating system & httpd (Apache, IIS, etc..), are you using?

if you’re using Apache, locate the <directory> container responsible for serving the WordPress site.

is DirectoryIndex index.php listed there? if not, insert that line and restart Apache. then select ViewSite again – does the list of files still show up?

This is happening to me to. I just installed and it said it was successful, but when I click on the link to “view site” it shows the directory of files. So then I click on index.php and I see the site, but when I click on anything like “About” or “Categories” it shows the directory again and these pages aren’t listed there.

I’m using XP and IE and I used cPanel to configure for the install.

    Any advice?

    Thanks
    M
