In the plugin settings, in the Advanced Settings tab, you can activate the “Convert automatically images from custom directories” function. This should help you and solve the problem.

If you have support for WP-CLI, you can set up a server cron that will run the following command from time to time (e.g. every hour):

wp converter-for-media regenerate

@marinow1991 No, this is not the correct configuration. If you don’t know what WP-CLI and server cron is, please don’t set it. I gave you two solutions – the first simple and easy, the second if you are a technically advanced person.

Yes, now I tried to set up the first easier solution.

Just would it report that there are new images as they are not uploaded through the WP system?

@marinow1991 Using this feature all new images in the /uploads directory will be automatically optimized every hour.
