Hello WordPress, i have a strange problem where i’ve created a site and all worked fine. Recently, without any changes, the homepage doesn’t work as it should. When i log in as the administrator, the homepage works fine, as soon as i log out it doesn’t. I’ve updated it, refreshed it, no difference. Every other page works fine, just the homepage where the image slider/slideshow is missing, error message: “Not Found, Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.”. Also the sidebar menu page appears which shouldn’t on the homepage as it should be full screen, as if the wrong default template page is shown. The admin page shows it as the correct one, i.e. full screen and no sidebar menu. Can anyone help?

your theme “Limitless” is not to be found in the official WP theme repo: https://www.ads-software.com/themes/search.php?q=Limitless

    – you’ll be more likely to find a good answer from your theme’s developers, for they have the access to its code. https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products

Hello, i’d been in touch with the theme developers and they said there was no issue, they tried wordpress default themes and found the same problem with the homepage. I’d deactivated all the plugins, set permalink to default, same problem. It must be a wordpress problem.

Still no answer from anyone in WordPress, very frustrating.

There is no one “from WordPress” – everyone here is a volunteer.

Try deactivating ALL plugins and switching to the default theme so someone can look at it that way.

    1. Does your blog have any posts?

    2. If yes, are those posts Published or Private?

    3. What do you have set as your Front Page at Settings -> Reading in your blog’s Dashboard?

    4. If it’s a static page, is that page Published or Private?

Hello James, its a static site so no posts, all pages published. The site was fine for a number of weeks, just the frontage is the issue. On Settings/reading its set to static page, though underneath where it says front page and below it posts page i have nothing selected for either.

I’ve noticed on the list of pages, all pages have nothing against them but the homepage has ‘private’ next to it, its been privately published. Is there a difference between privately published and just published? Is this whats causing the issue?

Aha, this was it! It wasn’t public like all the other pages, i changed to public and changed theme back and it works! Thanks James!!!

    You’re welcome!

To clarify, only the author of the private page can see it, which is why it was only working when you were logged in. ??
