When re-dating, accesses are not displayed from the beginning

Sometimes a post is re-dated to keep it at the top of the homepage. You want to put important posts first. The url remains the same, only the date is changed.

The overview page shows how often the post has been viewed.
After the last update, however, the overview page now only shows the hits since the updated day.
However, I would very much like to see the total number of hits, from the beginning – as before.

Is there anything that can be done?

    Hello,
    a screenshot to clarify things:

Help would be very appreciated. Because of course I am interested in the total number of views.

    Thanks!

    Plugin Support Matthew

    Hi @jjb100,

Please note that WP Statistics calculates visits based on the post’s publish date, which is considered the beginning of a post. This approach helps optimize performance by minimizing unnecessary database and server calls.

This behavior is intentional to improve the overall efficiency of the plugin. As a result, when the publish date is changed, the visit count will be calculated from the new date.

We suggest you use another approach to keep the post at the top of the page without affecting the visit count.

    Thank you!

    Regards,
    Matthew

    Hi, Matthew,
many thanks for the quick and instructive reply! I can see, that you have good reasons for the change.
I am afraid this is not helpful for me.
    Thanks anyway!
