With the release of EDD 3.0, nearly all of our strings were modified. The translations files we had been bundling have been outdated for a number of years and in some cases were causing sites to fatal error.

Just prior to WordPress 5.0, the language pack system was refactored to rely on translation files from translate.www.ads-software.com.

The French translation project is here:
    https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/easy-digital-downloads/stable/fr/default/

If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you can export both a .mo (machine readable format with all the current translations) and .po/.pot (human readable language file that you can edit and generate a new .mo file from) files available.

The way that translation files work is that, once a translation reaches 90% coverage it is automatically distributed to sties using the language. Currently it appears as though the French translation of EDD is sitting around 70%

    Hey @lola99

Once you have the generated .mo file following the steps above you can place that file under wp-content/languages/plugins/easy-digital-downloads/easy-digital-downloads-fr_FR.mo

If your website language is set to French then the filename should be as above easy-digital-downloads-fr_FR.mo.
