Where are my products?

I set up a few main categories and subcategories (I make crocheted miniatures, so examples: category is critters and subcats would be cats, dogs, fish…; another category is holidays and subcats would be Xmas, Easter, etc).

I created a few new products and made sure to put them in the correct category and subcategory.

I went to the Shop page and added the WooCommerce block for Products by Category. I selected the categories where I put products. But after I press Done, it says there are no products in the selected categories, and when I preview the page, it shows me the products, not the subcategories.

What am I doing wrong? TIA

UPDATE — I looked at the products listed in the category section and there are no products listed in there either. However, if I view on the products page, it shows that it’s under the category.
