My client reports that her friend tried to comment but got an error (I’m awaiting details).

She has Jetpack/Akismet installed, hosting at BlueHost. (WordPress is at 4.9.3, but I’ve just enabled auto updates and it should update to 4.9.4 within the next 24 hours.)

In the process of troubleshooting, I saw in Jetpack that there were 3 comments marked as spam in February (i.e., they are under 15 days old, today is Feb 14.) Settings are to “Always put spam in the Spam folder for review.” but there are no spam comments in her spam folder.

Where is it going? I’d like to be sure that her friend’s comment didn’t get falsely marked as spam.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello!

    Thanks for reporting this!

You’re right, spam comments should get stored in the folder for 15 days before they are deleted. But spam stats show not just comments, but other spam related activity like pingback spam and contact form entry spam.

So in this case it means that there were no comments recorded on the site. Can you reproduce the problem? Also, if you can send us more details, it would be very helpful.

    Thank you!

    Ah, thanks for that clarification.

I’m waiting for my client to get more info from her friend, I’ll keep you posted!
