    Hello,

I’ve just tried to install WP 2.0 and while the installation seemed to work ok, I’m getting 403 errors all over the place. I’m pretty sure it’s because there are no .htaccess files in any of the directories. I looked for them in the zip too (using transmit on os x which usually shows them up, it showed up a .DS_store).

    Help!!!!

  • Are you using permalinks on your blog? And if yes, how did you set them up?

not yet. i haven’t done anything yet!
any links that are to a folder instead of a specific file just throws an error.
can i just make my own htaccess files using directoryindex to point to the file i want or should there be included ones?

Can you please provide the link to your blog?

i’ve just deleted it before trying another install. thanks though!

can someone tell me if .htaccess files are provided in the zip file or not and if not, how WP handles getting the right file while linking just to a directory.

    thanks!

No .htaccess files are provided with the source.

If you turn on permalinks in WP, then a .htaccess write is performed if it can be done (permissions are set for a write), else it provides the code for you to put into your .htaccess file.
