I dont seem to be able to find any settings for this plugin anymore. There is nothing in the WooCommerce menu, nor anywhere else?

Just to add to this. I have it working on another site. So when I try to use a similar url on the non-working site, it tells me I have not access to the settings page. What can I do?

The most common cause of the issue you describe are unmet requirements. One of them is the framework on which the EU VAT Assistant is based. It’s a plugin called Aelia Foundation Classes (AFC, for short).

The EU VAT Assistant is designed to asking to install the AFC plugin when it doesn’t find it, showing a message similar to the following: https://prntscr.com/f6be2d. If the message doesn’t appear, it means that something on the site is hiding it. Some plugins tend to hide those admin messages, either due to “invasive” styles or by design, as an attempt to “de-clutter” the Admin section, but by doing so they prevent Administrators from reviewing conditions that require an action from their side.

Even if you don’t see the message prompting to install the AFC, you can still download and install the plugin manually. You can get the AFC plugin from here: wc-aelia-foundation-classes.zip. Simply upload and activate it (no configuration required), and the EU VAT Assistant menu should appear automatically. The AFC framework will keep itself up to date automatically, so you can forget about it after you completed the installation.

I do have AFC and the plugin has been working (well still is) but cannot get to the settings anymore.

Unfortunately, without more information, I can only speculate about the possible causes:

    • Some other requirement is missing. The plugin needs the PHP CURL extension, WooCommerce 2.6 or newer and the Aelia Foundation Classes. As explained, the EU VAT Assistant is designed to notify the Administrator when the requirements are not met, but those messages could be hidden by something on the site.
    • The user doesn’t have the privilege to access the menu. The required privilege is manage_woocommerce or higher.
    • Something is preventing the menu from being added to WooCommerce. The easiest way to find possible conflicts would be to go by exclusion, disabling all plugins except WooCommerce and the Aelia ones, to see if the issue disappears.

To find the exact cause, it would be necessary to investigate the site directly. That would be outside the support service provided via this forum, as it’s part of our premium support service. You can contact us if you would like to know more about that service.

Thank you, that did the trick. While I was admin, I did not have the shop manager role anymore for some reason. Thank you
