    We use the Give plugin on a site created in WordPress.
    When working with PayPal, There is a problem that we can’t solve using the Give settings.

    Problem essence:
    – our sponsors register on our site and enter their address data there;
    – however, when making a payment, PayPal again forces them to enter registration data (see file “PayPal_Address.png”);
    – Give settings that cancel the re-entry of registration data (see file “Give_Setting.png”) does not fix this problem.
    QUESTION: *** Where can I disable re-entering my registration data in PayPal settings? ***

    Please note that when using Russian payment systems when paying with Bank cards, the following requirements apply
    the mandatory introduction of address data, NO!

    To test this error, you must:
    – go to the link https://digitalformation.xyz/ (see file “MainPage.png”);
    – in the footer of this page, click “ДАЛЕЕ…”(see file “Payment_via_Give.png”);
    – in the window that opens, enter the required data and click “ПОДАРИТЬ” (see file “Give_Pay_Personal_Info.png”);
    – ATTENTION! the PayPal page opens where PayPal again requires you to enter the payer’s address information
    (see file “PayPal_Address.png”);

    /*** PROBLEM ***/
    We cannot disable this repeated request for address data using the settings of the Give plugin (see file “Give_Setting.png”);
    We can’t find a place in PayPal settings where you can disable this repeated request for address data!!!

    We received a response from PayPal.

    Dear Nataly,

    Thank you for contacting PayPal Merchant Technical Services & may I apologise for the delay in responding to your case.

    I understand your Sponsors are being prompted for an address which you do not require. PayPal has three options with regard to Shipping Addresses:
    ? “no_shipping”=”0”: prompt for shipping address, but do not require one
    ? “no_shipping”=”1″: do not prompt for shipping address
    ? name=”no_shipping”=”2”: prompt for shipping address, and require one

    The option you require would be ‘no_shipping=1’ so that your Sponsors are not prompted for a shipping address at all. The exact implementation of this solution however, will be dependent on your plugin. You will need to contact your Plugin Provider for instructions on how to include the ‘no_shipping=1’ parameter in your requests to PayPal via their plugin.

    I hope this helps, but if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to respond here.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Our question: can I set up Give so that PayPal doesn’t ask the donor for their address?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi @digitalformationxyz

    In order to process a donation with PayPal, donors are asked to log into PayPal if they are not already, upon clicking the ДАЛЕЕ link and filling out the email address. It is not currently requiring a billing address at all, in my tests.

    There’s no way around requiring donors to log into PayPal.

    Let me know if I am misunderstanding your question, here.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ben Meredith

    Yes, the question is misunderstood.

    We have no problems with PayPal registered donors.
    They pay via PayPal as You described: they immediately log in to PayPal via their email address and make the payment.

    Attention!
    We have a problem with donors who want to pay with a Bank card.
    These donors either do not have a PayPal account, or they pay with a Bank card that is not linked to their PayPal account.

    To pass this test, you must delete PayPal cookies or use a browser that has not previously logged in to PayPal.
    We did this and got 2 scripts:
    – in Google Chrome, we work with PayPal and our site: everything happens here as you see in your tests;
    – in Firefox and Opera, we do not work with PayPal: in this case, PayPal issues a request for postal details to send invoices to the donor (this is our problem)

    Thanks!

    Hi @digitalformationxyz

    For security, PayPal doesn’t allow links like that to be reused, so I am not able to replicate exactly what you are seeing.

    I think your question is answered by checking our documentation here: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/payment-gateways/paypal-standard/

    Specifically the FAQ section and the question “What’s the difference between Donations and Payments…?”

    Different PayPal accounts will show different interfaces. The ability to pay with a card on those interfaces depends on your PayPal account type.

    There’s no way around having to enter the card address a second time, as we don’t send Billing info through to PayPal in a way that is used there.

    Have a great day!
