I’m trying to find the H1-H6 header options that used to pop up when highlighting a title block. Doing so would popup the that included H1 or H2 etc. This toolbar no longer shows these header options. I was able to get the toolbar to show the Header size options by typing /H2. But why is this tool bar no longer showing header options? Two screenshots attached. First one shows no Header option and second one shows Header option after I jumped through the /H2 hoop.

  • For the block editor, there’s no persistent universal toolbar. Instead, individual blocks have their own toolbars. An image block has its own toolbar with appropriate buttons for manipulating an image. Likewise, a Table block has its own toolbar, a Paragraph block has its toolbar, a Headline block has its toolbar… you get the idea?

H1-H6 are headlines, so you need to insert a Headline block to see this button.

Your first arrow points to a Paragragh block. A Paragraph is not a headline, and there’s no H1-H6 for paragraphs. So why show such options here?

Your second arrow image points to a Headline block, which has a button for the HTML headlines H2-H6. It’s assumed that the main post title will use the H1 element, that’s why the Headline block only has H2-H6.

Wow, thanks George for the quick response. This is starting to become more clear. But that said, in the past I would write a header and simply click on that text and the Header options would popup in that toolbar.

So what would I choose as a block to give me the Header options? The good news is I’ve figured a work around by using /H3>Returnto get a header with 1-6 options. But I never used to have to do that. I wonder if something changed with the newest version of WP?

    Convert Paragraph to Heading Block

You can easily convert your paragraph to heading block and heading tags like H1 to H6 will be available for that.

OK guys, thanks for the help. I’ve basically figured it out. I’m now clicking the + sign to add something and then click on the Heading. That gives me my H1-H6 options. But what’s strange is I never use to have to do that. I would just start typing in the Block that appeared and when I clicked on the option to change things the tool bar would popup with the H1 options. Either way I’ve basically solved my issue. Just an additional step involved. Thanks all for your help.
