Where do I begin?

When I move the Twitter connect widget into place, I ger a pop up that asks me to do things that I have no idea how to do. I’m obviously missing something pretty basic, so basic I literally can’t get started. It tells me step one is to Customize. HOW???? WHERE??? I can’t get the code snippet until I go to this place that I don’t know where it exists. HELP!
