You can upload them directly from within WordPress by using the built-in file uploading utility at Manage > Files in the Administration Panels.

Bullplop- there is no such URL or PHP file.

Am I to assume, from here on out, since the documentation has incorrect information in it, I cannot believe any of it?

    -please let me know.

HELLO? Anyone here got the bollocks to answer a simple question about uploading content? All I want to know, is how to put images up on my site.

    -eric

Just reupload the wp-admin/options-misc.php file from one of the “older versions” or more recent ones I should say, of WordPress, like 1.5.2 or 2.0 RC3 Beta, over the one you have now in the FTP directory….

Go to your admin control panel => Options => Miscellaneous Options =>

Make that folder or whatever…CHMOD it 777 via the FTP. Hope this helps. =) It works fine on my version 2.0 blog.

P.S. Even though the new feature, which is located while writing a post is even better, I know it’s a little confusing at times. But, maybe you can get used to it then or something.

so- you’re telling me, that wordpress’s current version doesn’t contain elementary, necessary scripts required for site maintenance, and I have to get them from “older versions”?

This is absurd- am I to hand my site over to the tender mercies of a CMS that’s developed by a company that can’t be bothered to provide the scripts and pages required for the most fundamental aspects of web maintenance?

    Screw that…

    -eric

No! I’m not saying that, the new feature is located under the write post. I’m just saying, that “older feature” isn’t located in the “older place” as before. But it’s in there, and even better now, located in under the write post.

I just figured you were wanting the “older feature” again, and I was telling you how to get it back if you were really hard up for it lol! Anyways…do what ya want I guess..

    spencerp

P.S. Moshu, or some other moderator…please explain more in detail about this feature or something lmaO! It’s not really the people or the CMS that is messed up, it’s the user’s that are too stupid to figure the CMS out to begin with lol! Shit, I found it right off the bat, it’s called learning the CMS that you’re using.

    eblumrich-
If you find documentation that is out of date, go ahead and fix it. The Codex is a wiki for a reason. The upload feature is not broken, just moved to the posting screen. Updating hundreds of pages of documentation takes time, so don’t be so quick to complain.

You aren’t dealing with a company putting out a piece of commercial software here. Everyone who offers help is doing so out of goodwill; no one makes any money off of this or has any obligation to help you, especially if you are rude.

You should also know that there could be a variety of reasons you don’t see a particular option. Many options can be turned off in the control panel, and you also never said what version of WordPress you were using. Providing that kind of information, and being nicer, will help you get the assistance you are requesting.

Okay- you got me- I was too busy in my formative years getting laid and drinking beer, and I didn’t spend my time in my parent’s attic, divining the secrets of PHP and databases, while leering at naked pictures of Seven of Nine.

You have me- I’m a stupid plebe- laugh away- whee!

Where the hell does someone go to understand the arcana of CMS- in plain english, por favor.

I’m not a newcomer to websites, or computers- I’ve been running and developing websites for over a decade. I know every piece of multimedia and HTML editing software (mac and PC) there is. I learned how to edit video on a media 100 setup in fifteen minutes…

But CMS is insane- it makes no goddamned sense- the documentation of Mambo, Grey Matter, and WordPress is laughable, and the only mode of support is these forums.

We come to these fourms for desperate help, and when our questions aren’t answered, we’re laughed at, and called “stupid”.

Is this “revenge of the nerds” writ large, or is this a genuine forum for assistance?

Good lord- can anyone out there speak plain english, and help someone out with a step-by-step process to understand this thing?

    -eric

Have you tried looking in the WordPress Codex?

If I understand your question, then this article should help: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Images

    Thread Starter eblumrich

    (@eblumrich)

    No- it does not.

It’s the standard crappy doc file that is provided with CMS systems, these days.

    Seriously, folks.
I’ve spnt the better half of a week, trying to create a better site via CMS, and all of the existing platforms suck.

WordPress sucks. Mambo Sucks- all of ya’ll suck.

CMS platforms, as they now exist, are a vast circle-jerk among the geeks of the world, and quite frankly, I have no time for them.

    blow me.

Well quite frankly, all your stupid ass and ignorant replies are the only circle jerking going on! We are trying to “help” you figure this bullshit problem out. But you also gotta learn some shit on your end, we are not here to spoon feed you the exact answers necessarily. And for the most part, all the people including me that have replied, has given fair and descent suggestions and replies.

Jesus Christ man! Learn a little bit on your own for once. Everyone in this forum or even with other CMS softwares did and still do.

With the Manage > Files, that is for editing text files, that are basically already uploaded into the FTP or I even believe you can upload text files that way, I just never did it before. I always edited what I need with that option, for files I had already uploaded.

For the images, if you have access to a FTP software, go into the wp-content/ folder in the blog’s directory, make a folder, namely whatever you want it called, ie: “uploads”, “images”, “pics” whatever you want. CHMOD it 777. Maybe read this for better details of what to do: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/53285?replies=75

Remember, you’re not the only one with these problems. Also, we get the point how the WordPress Codex sucks and all that shit, but really if you spend sometime actually reading what’s there, you might learn something. But anyways, not every CMS package is the greatest, being that it’s all free for the people to use, if you really think it sucks so damn bad, then just don’t use it….and fluck off some where else.

As for “blowing you”, why not blow me once bitch! My girlfriend isn’t the best at giving blow jobs, but maybe you can show her how it’s done! LOL! Anyways, just try and learn some shit or something, Jesus Fuck!

    spencerp

I’m trying to be good and nice, as well as the others, but come on! Can only take so much…hahaha.. Damn! And I’m not even drinking tonight..I’m done with the bullshit, why even bother wasting the time helping such a assclown lol! I’m out for the night…

You have to admit, 7 of 9 was hot? Is the man right or is the man right?
