I’m a newbee just installed WP 2.3.1 and trying to figure out where widgets go. I’ve put the flickr-widget in wp-content/plugins/widgets but it does not show up on my presentation>widgets page. I must be missing something.

automatic.com says you don’t need the widgets plugin in WP 2.2 and above but it explicitly say where widgets are supposed to go.

    Thanks,
    Larry

Well, remember that widgets are just plugins too, so have you activated them from the plugins page? If not, they won’t appear in the widgets page.

Most of the time, the folder location doesn’t matter unless the docs for them say “put this file in the widgets directory”.

    gfindlay,
    That worked. Thanks much.

I just upgraded to 2.3.1, and I cannot get the Sidebar Widgets to work. When the author says that it is “not required” for 2.2 and that it is compatible up to 2.1.3, what does that mean?

Is this no longer usable for 2.3.1?

This is one of my favorite plugins. Can someone explain how to make it work in 2.3.1?

    Thanks,
    Matt
