Where have all the post widgets gone!

    Hello,

    Help!!!!

    I updated to 5.6 today after backing up to find all my post widgets missing and posts that had a featured widget block now fail to display.

    I think I might have to revert unless these have been moved and are implemented in a different fashion.

    If they have been removed can someone please document it or instruct me how to restore them?

    Any advice or instruction greatly appreciated.

    Why do I now have the billing and alternate shipping address fields listed in my wordpress user profiles?

    Surely this is not correct?

    Hello Again Again,

    Now I find my Gutenberg post backoffice admin panel editor is now doing weird things too, like the custom field section that resides and sticks at the bottom of the editorial page is now showing half way up it!

    Whats going on do you think?

    This and all the other issues above have manifested themselves after the update of your lastest version.

    I think I might run a Db update before reversion to see if this fixes anything.

    I am now not sure what else is wrong as I will need to check everything.

    Look forward to your response soon as possible. system info included below.

    Another thing….

    Admin panel, click on wooCommerce / home and get a blank page??

    This is turning into a mare..

    The problem is, before I revert, I need to progress, else I will never end up updating the product.

    Any direction to try and fix all this mess would be gratefully appreciated..

    Sorry that you are seeing some unpleasant changes on your site after updates.

    It is unlikely that WooCommerce would affect the appearance of general Post and featured widgets. I have two suspects seeing your System Report though (thanks for sharing that)

    1. I see that your site is updated to WordPress version 5.8. This version introduced Block widgets. If you had any older widgets, it would appear as Legacy Widgets . If you have any widgets made using proprietary theme features or page builders, it is likely it may have some bugs. Try installing and activating the Classic Widgets plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/classic-widgets/

    and see if that helps

    2. I see that your site has two page builder plugins
    Nimble Builder Pro: by Press Customizr – 1.0.14
    Nimble Page Builder: by Press Customizr – 3.1.21

    If the affected plugins are related to these, you may need to check with the author of the page builder about compatibility with WordPress 5.8

    Other than this, doing a conflict test, by deactivating plugins one-by-one would be a good idea to find out which one is causing the issue on your site.

    Thanks for reaching out.. and for the advise and direction and for the time and effort to compile the detail. I will look into these if other problems persist.. ??

    I have just looked at everything and in to user access and found my problem..

    Two of us have admin rights, I used this to compare differences.

    I think some of the fixes WooCommerce 5.6.0 has implemented must have been about some form of access control, or at least touch that area.

    First I tried the normal route, as before the WooCommerce update everything was dandy so to speak..

    The problems came straight after the updating to WooCommerce 5.6.0, Nothing else was updated.

    I use SiteGround and I have two SiteGround plugins that always play nice.

    SiteGround Optimizer: by SiteGround – 5.9.3
    SiteGround Security: by SiteGround – 1.1.2

    This time I found all problems went away once “SiteGround Security plugin” was disabled.

    But “WAIT”, It is not the “SiteGround Security Plugin” that is the problem…

    For all of you out there, using SiteGround; and SiteGrounds own Security Plugin.

    Save yourself a lot of trouble and headaches. Purge all your browsers and all your test browsers Cookies and Cache, especially after a WooCommerce update.

    Forgot to say, if your customers are having similar issues ask them to clear down their cookies and Cache too.. ??

    This cured the issue outright and now I can re-enable my SiteGround Security plugin with no problems whatsoever.

    Seems there is some changes in WooCommerce update 5.6.0, that conflict with SiteGrounds security plugin management.

    This has taken me all afternoon to find, but now I know I can move on with future WooCommerce updates.
