I’m not sure to understand: did you use the plugin at all? Because you are not supposed to upload your files manually. Or was there an issue with the plugin in the first place?

About Genesis hooks: that’s right, Genesis involves specific hooks to override the favicon. The plugin normally takes care of this automatically.

Are there any news about this issue? If not, I’ll close it in a few days.

I used the RealFaviconGenerator as the G (for Genesis) favicon kept reappearing in Chrome (fine in Firefox). Even though I put my personal favicon in the Prose child-theme “images” folder nested in “themes” in my Go Daddy FTP. Deleting Genesis favicon in the images folder of “Genesis” theme for good measure. (Still the G would appear on diff. platforms.)

The RFG solved my problem with Chrome — as my personal favicon now shows up in it.

But Safari and other browsers, and on mobile devices, there is no favicon at all. Just generic. Compatibility for RFG is explained in great depth at this link: https://realfavicongenerator.net/favicon_compatibility#.VBBvY0jORnY

I am a stickler for thoroughness, so am still pursuing this. The RFG homepage says that if I put in instructive HTML code in my images.php under <header>, the different platforms will upload my favicon.

Oh, I think I understand. There must be some confusion.

This forum is dedicated to the RealFaviconGenerator’s plugin for WordPress (https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/favicon-by-realfavicongenerator). This is a plugin you need to install just like any regular WP plugin. Once you do this, you can setup a favicon easily: from your WordPress dashboard, just go to Appearance > Favicon. No need to deal with HTML at all. And no FTP or whatever.

Because this forum is dedicated to the plugin, I assumed you were using it. But you didn’t, did you? You visited https://realfavicongenerator.net/ directly and follow the instructions, right?

My advice: rollback what you have done (HTML code you might have pasted, etc.) and give a try to the plugin. From your WP dashboard, go to Plugins > Add new, search for “realfavicongenerator” and you’ll find it.
