  • You can use pretty much any theme for a non-blog site. There are plenty to hose from at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/

what i’m find is “the trick is disabling blogging within the themes”
do you have any suggestions on best ways to turn blogging and comments off?

Create a static front page, hide the main posts page by setting its status to ‘Draft’ and turn off all commenting.

-I activated the Twenty Eleven Theme
-I created a page called Home
-I went to >Settings > Reading and selected A Static Page and Front Page Home

How do I “hide the main posts page by setting its status to ‘Draft’ and turn off all commenting”

See Settings -> Discussion to turn off all comments.
To set the Blog page to draft, navigate to Pages, Under the Blog page, select Quick Edit (the link will appear when you place your cursor on the Blog Page’s title). In the Status dropdown. select Draft then click Update.
