We evaluated TEC on an offline site where I let a dozen volunteers enter a few real world events each. Now I want to migrate that to the live site.

There is an Import option in the dashboard menu. In the free version this only offers import from CSV. But where is the ‘Export to CSV’?

    Hello @willemb2,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

You can then use a third-party plugin to export events and then import the CSV file into the new site.

To export data to CSV file format, the WP All Export plugin does a good job. There are two things to take care of, though:

    • The event description might contain quotes " which is also used for the cell content as well. It’s best to run a search-replace in spreadsheet software and change all " to ' within the cell contents.
    • If there are more categories or tags assigned to an event in the export, the delimiter will be |. These should be changed to , otherwise you will get weird category names.
    • Check out this extension we created as well – https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/wp-all-import-add-on-for-the-events-calendar/.

Check out this guide on Importing Calendar Data From a CSV File for steps. You should structure the CSV file to follow the approved data formats found in our Sample Guide. Then use the CSV import feature in the Events Calendar to import event information in this order: venues and organizers first, then events, followed by tickets if you have any.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks, @frankremmy. In the meantime I found out that I could download a .ics via de ‘Subscribe’ button on the front end. With another 3rd party plugin, WP Event Aggregator I could import that. Worked very well. It’s a bit like shooting down a bug with a canon, but it saved me a few hours of copy/paste.

    Hello @willemb2,

You’re very welcome. I’m glad that everything’s working well for you.

If you have a moment, we would really appreciate it if you could share your feedback with others. You can leave a review for The Events Calendar here.

By sharing your experience on www.ads-software.com, you’ll demonstrate the power of using The Events Calendar for event management to others. Plus, you’ll totally make my day. ??

Either way, I’m here if any questions come up!

    With gratitude,

    Frank
