Where is woocommerce inventory explanation

I want to explain inventory to clients in layman’s terms. Because there stock management are checkboxes in several places, I’m not sure exactly what to say. Is there a page that explains exactly which checkbox affects which levels?
Product Level: Variable product
Inventory: Manage Stock? checkbox
Variations, Expand All, Manage stock? checkboxI noticed that it’s possible to manage stock at the variant level regardless of whether the product level inventory manage stock is checked or not.
So it seems there’s room for confusion, i.e.,
product level inventory ON, variations ON — conflicting instructions, which takes precedence?
product level inventory ON, variations OFF — manage at product level
product level inventory OFF, variations ON — manage at variant level
product level inventory OFF, variations OFF — do not manage
Can someone clarify for me?
