• I’ve been able to use my existing menus in 5.9 with Twenty twenty-two theme — but I don’t seem to be able to edit them…

All the links say that it’s supposed to be a menu choice under “appearance” but I can’t find one (just Themes / Editor / Customize / Additional CSS — and under “Customize” the only options are Site Identity / Homepage Settings / Additional CSS).

I tried to edit them by selecting the navigation block and changing settings there, but I can only choose from menus that are already created.

I can get a list of existing menus with this link: https://timoelliott.com/blog/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_navigation — but when I click on the links everything is empty

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

  • Hi!

You are correct, with block themes, the Appearance > Menus is removed.
The only way to edit the navigation is to select the block in the editor, make your changes there, and save.

You mentioned that you are only able to choose from menus that are already created, but you are not able to edit them.
Try opening the List View in the top left of the editor view.
    Select the navigation block.
If the block under (inside) the navigation block says “Page List”, select that block.
Now click “Edit” in the block toolbar of the page list.
The editor will ask if you want to convert the block to links. Select Convert.
You can now remove and move the links and add more links to the menu.

    Creating a new menu:
When you choose the “Select menu” option in the block toolbar, you should see a list of menus created with the block, and if you have older menus saved, a list of “classic menus”. Below those two sections is a third option, “create new menu”.
