Where to find and how to reach the categories post numbers?

Ia€?m trying to build my first blog with WPa€| and I think Ia€?ve made the right choice. The visual structure that Ia€?m trying to put together demands that categories names and the correspondent number of posts, in the sidebar, reside in the same ul.
I cana€?t seem to find the instructions that put the number of posts in front of the categories names. It is not in the sidebar templatea€| I really do not understand how they are appearing. Could anybody enlighten me about this?
