• Hi I have changed hosting companies from Site 5 to Fatcow.

I downloaded all of my files from Site 5 and have now uploaded them to Fatcow.

Everything in my folder public_html with Fatcow is exactly the same as before but none of my posts/ pages / text or anything appear on my website.

I have contacted Fatcow and they have given me this response:

“Wordpress stores most of the content and settings in a MySQL database. The database currently on your account has no content beyond the defaults. The WordPress files are just skeletal framework for the content. The pages and posts are all stored in a MySQL database. If you can provide us with a dumpfile, we can import it for you.”

Can I find the MySQL database in my public_html folder?

    The subfolders are wp, wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes.

    Thanks

  • You have to use the MySQL database that was in your previous host’s server, which you might have downloaded. If you do not have it, try contacting your previous host if they can help. If your previous hosting account is still valid, you can import the database without asking them.

Thanks Krishna, can you tell me what it looks like?

    Does it end in php?

Where is it normally located? Under public_html?

You can login to your current hosting account and have a look at your MySQL database (which is just basic). You will have something similar to that, but quite large in your previous hosting account. Can you still access it?
