• Hello,

I have wordpress installed in the root directory of the domain. So where now, ideally, should I install bbpress(where do I upload it to). Thanks a lot.

  • I’d put in a subdir like “forum” or whatever name you want to have in your url
    example.com/forum
    or
    example.com/discussion

    Thanks a lot moshu,

I uploaded all the bbpress folders and files into a new folder called “forum”, which is right inside of the “public_html” folder. If you click on the “public_html” folder, then the “forum” folder is right there, and then if you click on that, you see all of the bbpress folders and files.

But now when I type in my sitename/forum I get a page that says this…

Warning: mysql_get_server_info() [function.mysql-get-server-info]: Access denied for user ‘jim1234’@’localhost’ (using password: NO) in /home/jim1234/public_html/forum/bb-includes/db.php on line 73

Warning: mysql_get_server_info() [function.mysql-get-server-info]: A link to the server could not be established in /home/jim1234/public_html/forum/bb-includes/db.php on line 73
    Cannot select DB.

I’m not sure what I did wrong.

Did you install it? Uploading the files is NOT installation.
Read the documentation… and they have their own support forum.

Head over to bbPress and check out the following thread that might help you out with a simple fix for errors like the one you have:

The bbPress forums is the best place to talk about bbPress issues, so listen to moshu ??
