• Hi,

I’m about the create a new site for a client and i’m going to be using ssl due to him collecting users details. My question is where on the server do i install the core files?

Do they go in the https folder on the server or the normal http?

I know it seems like a basic question however i can’t seem to find an answer anywhere.

Any other tips for setting up the site for ssl would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    James

  • I have only some very limited experience here, but these examples of my server paths might help you visualize things:

    ‘/home/account/ssl/certs/’
    ‘/home/account/ssl/keys/’
    ‘/home/account/public_html/wordpress/’

To get that working, I had to use cPanel at the server along with a bit of assistance from the BlueHost Support Techs to get the right things in the right places. There might be other ways to do all of that, but that is all I know. Also, I am using a self-signed certificate that did not cost me anything, and the Support Techs put it up in a way that I now have https: at work everywhere (several sites) even though http: is all that is needed even with the SSL at work.

    Thanks for your help.

On the server where is the wordpress install located. Are they in the httpdocs or httpsdoc folder?

I believe your ‘httpdocs’ and my ‘public_html’ are the same, and the certificate and such is in a folder separate from that.
