I’d like to set up some custom templates, but I don’t want them to get blown away if the plugin is updated or uninstalled/reinstalled. Where can I put these templates? (Do they have to go in the connections/templates folder, or can they go in my theme folder somehow?)

    Thanks!

The custom template folder and files can be put in the follow folder so it will be safe during a plugin upgrade:

    ../wp-content/connections_template

Note, this is not in the plugins folders where Connections is installed with the default templates.

    Hope that helps.

I tried this, but the templates weren’t found. Within that connections_template folder, do I just have the individual folders for my custom templates, or do I need a different structure?

    Thanks again.

Make that “connections_templates” (I was missing the “s” at the end — it’s still not working, though.)

    Right, it should be connections_templates.

The folder structure would be a folder named as the template name but in all lowercase and using underscores for spaces. Within this folder would be all the template files. The minimum that you must include are template.php and meta.php.

Use one of the default templates as a guide.

Thanks Steven. Yes, that’s everything I did. When I had it in the plugin’s templates folder it worked fine, but trying to do what you described it’s not showing up.

(I had the folders named with dashes instead of underscores — I changed that, but still no go.)

I’m doing this with a multisite install — does that make a difference?

I appreciate any further direction you can provide.

    Thanks again!

Try zipping the folder on your desktop and then use the template installer on the Connections : Templates admin page.
