• hi.
i’m trying to use images in my blog. i’ve figured out how to link to images on the web… but i want to be able to move them right/left etc. on wordpress it says to change the stylesheet in the theme.

my question is, where does one save images when you ftp them ?
do you save them under “blog” in the general folder for images, or do you have to save them under “images” under a specific theme – the one you are using?

    does it matter?
    thanks.

  • It doesn’t really matter, but if you want a convention I’d suggest:

    1. If the images accompany a specific posting: one of the new features in WordPress 2.0 is that you can upload images directly from the Post and Page editing screens. WP will store them in a directory structure yyyy/mm under wp-content/uploads, e.g. wp-content/uploads/2006/01/myimage.png.
    2. If the images are part of a theme then I’d suggest wp-content/themes/theme-name/images

    hi john,
thank you for responding to what must seem like a stupid question.
    i get you – the thing is, i don’t think i have wp 2.
I got bluehost a few days ago and then uploaded (?) WordPress for my blog, but i think its 1.5. which is fine, but i don’t have that upload folder, which sounds like a great idea. Instead, I created a folder in wp-content for the purpose.

ok – my second (easy) question is, what do i type in in the blog file itself when I want to link to one of these images.?

i know it’s a-href etc but what do i type to get to the image…?
    do i type my.blog.name./blog/wp-content/uploads/etc ?

    when convenient, i’d appreciate it.

Yeah, you just type the url to it as though you would to view it in a browser :o)

    https://www.your.blog.name/blog/wp-content/uploads/etc

    x
